IN THE SILENCE OF THE NIGHT ,
nineteen years later, and all really is quite well. those who fought against the dark lord on his last run are enjoying peace in the world they fought so hard to secure for their children. now, these children have found themselves at hogwarts, as the next generation of do-good gryffindors, elitist ravenclaws, and naive hufflepuffs. but the slytherins...
THROUGH ALL THE TEARS ,
if you recall, the dark lord's followers lost everything when their champion was trumped by the potter boy once and for all. they lost their standing in the wizarding world, and for the first time in history, found themselves out of positions of power and influence as the ministry all but barred itself to them. children of the dark lord's followers now find themselves together at hogwarts, in a house even further isolated from the rest of the school. those with surnames of formerly great prestige now find their names a curse, won for them before their time. they are watched impossibly close by the faculty, and these students whom might have once rebelled are urged by their parents to fly below the radar as often as possible.
AND ALL THE LIES ,
the wizarding world has grown completely mistrustful of those pureblooded families having once pledged eternal loyalty to the man who nearly brought the entire wizarding world crashing down around him. a ministry decree went into effect shortly afterward his fall, requiring all purebloods to register for surveillance. for some families, such as the weasleys, this bit of protocol is little more than a formality. but for those like the malfoys, it is a means for the ministry to watch closely over their activities and ascertain that an uprising never again takes place.
the dark lord's worst fears have been realized, and his elite, pure race is being ruled with tyranny by the very people he once sought to eliminate from his world. with no one to lead a third charge against the muggleborns and blood traitors, they are forced to prove to their suppressors that they really have turned coat, while every new restriction placed on them drives a sense of loathing deeper into their cores. and now, the oldest and most noble families of the wizarding world are faced with a decision; assimilate into the new world and forsake their ancient names by denouncing their superiority, or isolate from the new world and hold on to the only things they have left to them - their blood, their names, and their dwindling wealth.
JUST KNOW THAT WHEN THE GLASS IS EMPTY ,
on the other side of the fence, children of those who came out on the winning side attend a school far different than that of their parents. they have never experienced torment from the slytherins, though the house as a whole has never been excessively friendly to outsiders. some children carry their parents grudge and give their best go at excluding the slytherins, while others know that the only way to move past this hurdle completely is to forgive and forge ahead anew. let us hope that the latter group prevails, for if the two sides cannot learn to coexist peacefully...
THE WORLD IS GONNA BEND .
